We have a special treat for you this week. As well as offering the first chapter of The Way Forward for you to read and enjoy, we’re also providing Professor Riccardo Moratto’s excellent foreword to really whet your appetite for the book.
To start with, Prof Moratto’s foreword provides context both for the book itself, and for his and our interpretation of it. As he explains, while we’ve tried hard to ensure the translation remains faithful to the substance and spirit of the Chinese original, there was much that needed additional glossing, or where the structure needed to be rethought to make the English version flow. I think it’s a really helpful insight into the translation process itself, and also what makes the book so enthralling in the first place.
Once that’s prepared you for the main course, so to speak, then plunge into the book itself with the whole of chapter one. Here Xuemo sets up the core idea of sovereignty, which is the single most important core theme of the whole book. He examines the importance of taking ownership of our own lives and responsibility for our own destiny, without shying away from what this may cost us. Sink your teeth in!
We’ve added new links to the Books page for The Way Forward for those of you looking to get a copy from a bookshop, or who want to buy the ebook. Of course if you’re in the USA, UK, or Australia the best deal on the paperback is still to buy direct at 20% off using the link below.
