Astonishingly, to me at least as it’s all I’ve talked about for approximately two months now, there are still some people in the world unaware of the existence of our fantastic first book Eden’s Alternative to Appeasement.
This is of course a huge part of our role as a publisher, to find ways to make our books visible. In an attention economy it’s a challenge that we’re trying to deal with in every way we can. We’re working on getting some reviews commissioned from academic journals, while also exploring whether we can find a way to get reviewed by a more mainstream publication. Things move slowly and there’s a lot of sending messages (and books) and hearing nothing back, but that’s the business. We press on.
How can you help us?
I’m so glad you asked. Here’s a list, if you can do any or all of these it would mean the world to us:
- Buy the book, obviously.
- Leave a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads, these are by far the most influential platforms globally. You should be able to leave a review on Amazon even if you bought the book elsewhere.
- Tell your friends and colleagues about the book.
- Like and share our interview videos on Youtube, Instagram and TikTok.
- Request the book from your local (or University) library. Most libraries of all kinds have a short form you can complete to request a book not already in stock.
In some respects we expect our first book to be our most difficult, the more we can do to make an impact now, the more we’ll have already cleared a path for our future books. It’s also our chance to experiment and see what works. It’s an exciting time, but also a frustrating one at times!
That’s going to be all from us for this week. It’s a bit hot at the moment for writing anything too intensive or introspective, though I gather our friends in other parts of Europe are sadly being hit much worse than we are in South West England.
As always do get in touch on proposals@tbarnpress.com if you have a book project you would like to discuss with us.
